Windows 95/98/98SE/2000/ME/XP Operating System
The PCI 1394 is a PCI to IEEE 1394/ USB Host Adapter for PCs. For non-FireWire or
non-USB enabled PCs, the PCI 1394/ USB combo host adapter allows you to add the most modern
IEEE 1394 and USB 2.0 technology to the PCs. With PCI 1394/ USB combo Card installed, you can
connect your PC to 1394 and USB peripherals such as DV camcorder, FireWire Video equipment,
FireWire/ USB Storage Devices (CDROM, CD/RW, MO, HDD, ZIP etc.)
The 1394U2PCI is an OHCI based FireWire Controller card designed to provide Integrators with a
quality solution for IEEE1394/FireWire connectivity in both Macintosh and PC systems.
FireWire is one of the fastest peripheral standards ever developed making it great for use with
multimedia products such as video camcorders and other high-speed devices like the latest hard disk
drives, DVD’s and CDR’s. With features such as hot pluggability, transfer rates up to 400 Mbps,
support of isochronous data transfers, and auto bus configuration, it is easy to see why FireWire
is rapidly becoming the standard peripheral interface for multimedia professionals and end users alike.
Compliant with both Windows and Apple FireWire drivers, the provides end users and System
Integrators a full feature quality solution. 1394U2PCI features include a fully compliant OHCI design
with impedance matched layout and source termination for optimal signal integrity. Independently
Isolated port fuses increase reliability by preventing a bus overload from affecting both ports.
The 1394U2PCI also utilizes the PCI Bus Power Management allowing FireWire peripherals to wake up
a host from sleep mode.
The 1394U2PCI’s Universal PCI interface supports both 5 and 3.3 V bus systems and takes
advantage of the 133 Mbytes/second burst rate of the PCI bus.
Certain peripherals are powered directly from the FireWire bus. These are often referred to
as nonself- powered or "pocket drives." Normally, the PCI bus can handle no more than two of these
drives before causing erratic behavior in FireWire bus performance. The Fusion 400 has an optional
internal power connector capable of supplying the FireWire bus with up to 1.5 amps for connection of
nonself-powered peripherals.
Providing unmatched features, performance, and designed reliability, the
1394U2PCI is the first
choice of System Integrators.
